Skidaway Field Trip: We Love Turtles!

Warning: Prepare for picture overload.

On Thursday, September 18, Kindergarten classes traveled to Skidaway Island to visit the UGA Aquarium. We had an amazing trip exploring in nature and learning about turtles! Our class hit the nature trail first and the kids enjoyed picking up crabs along the way. We then headed inside where our teacher, Ms. Lisa, gave an excellent presentation about turtles. Students were able to see many turtle related artifacts and also touch a variety of turtles! Too often, given our setting at the beach, we narrow our focus to just sea turtles. This trip was a great opportunity to learn about a wider variety of turtles, including box turtles, a gopher tortoise, a mud turtle, a snapping turtle, and more. We ended our visit in the aquarium where students were able to see turtles and other exciting creatures in the tanks. The kids learned a lot and it was a truly wonderful field trip. Even with the beauty of the nature trail, the awesome experience of touching turtles, and the awe-inspiring displays in the aquarium, many students still stated the bus ride was their favorite part of the trip. :) It's the little things!

Enjoy the pictures! If you have any to share, I would love to see them. Thanks to all of the parents who helped make this trip possible. I say it so many times, but it is the truth and worth stating again - We could not do what we do at TIMA without the involvement of awesome parents! From donations to chaperoning, you make this possible!
