Back by Popular Demand - The Restaurant Project

The students have spoken and their desire is to study restaurants for the second project of the year. Kindergarten classes studied restaurants last year and is was a wonderful experience. Perhaps these students have heard of the fun times or maybe restaurants truly are just a great topic. (Personally, I think it's both!) We cannot wait to see how this group makes this wonderfully rich topic its own. Please look below for our project letter and activities for this week. If you or someone you know has connections to the restaurant industry in any way, please let me know ASAP!

Number Line Fun

This week pushed us on to higher heights in the world of mathematics, but this time last week we were working with the concept of a number line for the first time. Different groups explored different segments of the number line and some even experimented with different intervals. For these number lines, students simply illustrated quantity with different objects of their choice. All students thoroughly enjoyed the activity and each seemed proud of their own finished product.

Pumpkin Patch

Here's a little Flashback Friday for you guys taking us back to our pumpkin patch trip last week! The kids had a blast participating in the different activities planned out by the staff at the Islands YMCA. I was very impressed by the structure and involvement level this trip provided. The day started out with all Kindergarten and First grade classes watching a skit put on by the staff. Then each class had the opportunity to rotate through stations including a beautiful hayride, pumpkin-themed story time, lunch, face painting, a spooky craft, and most importantly pumpkin selection at the patch. We all had a great time! Afterwards, we enjoyed a relaxed and pleasant fall decorating party. It was the perfect end to our busy day. Thanks to all who participated or provided for the party! Thanks also to everyone for your ongoing support of our many adventures!
