At the beginning of December, all students in Kindergarten - 2nd Grade at TIMA traveled to the Lucas Theatre in Savannah as part of the Musical Explorers program in conjunction with the Savannah Music Festival. Musical Explorers is an early elementary music program designed by the Savannah Music Festival to introduce young students to local performing artists. At the theatre, students were exposed to different artists and genres. Artists for the December performance included Jimmy Wolling (Bluegrass), The McIntosh County Shouters (Ring Shout), and Kim Michael Polote (Jazz). The kids loved the theatre experience and cannot wait to return in the spring.
